POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a perioperative nurse who may function as an assistant to the surgeon in the operating room during surgical procedures. The RNFA performs first assistant behaviors according to hospital policy. In addition to first assisting, responsibilities may include circulating, scrubbing and other duties as assigned. Access to all Patient Health Information for treatment purposes only.Qualifications1.Current California RN License2.Certified as a perioperative nurse (CNOR)3.Completion of an RNFA course, including the completion of the required internship hours4.Proficient in perioperative nursing practice as both scrub and circulating nurse with diversified operating room experience5.Current ACLS and CPR Provider certifications6.Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with people on all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and co-workers inter- and intra-departmentally7.Possesses active listening skills8.Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing theory and practice9.Compassionate, nonjudgmental patient caregiver and advocate10.Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work11.Possesses audible acuity necessary for taking blood pressures and maintaining patient safetyPay Range: $58.52 - $93.93 hourlyIndividual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications and experience#LI-SB3Tenet complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.Responsibilities:Registered nurse first assistant behaviors in the perioperative arena include but are not limited to preoperative patient management in collaboration with other health care providers, intraoperative performance of surgical first assistant techniques, postoperative patient management in collaboration with other health care providers in the immediate postoperative period and beyond. Functions intraoperatively as a first assistant at surgery only and not concurrently as a scrub person or circulator.Qualifications: Education:Required: Diploma or ADN required. Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN standards for RN first assistant education programs.
Preferred: BSN. Experience:Required: 1 year assisting experience.
Preferred: 3 years circulating experience. Certifications:Required: RN, BLS, and CNOR.
