The Web Designer is responsible for designing, coding and modifying School of Medicine webpages, according to the needs of various departments and administrative units. The Web Designer will strive to create cohesive and visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and facilitate navigation of the school's website. The Designer will be responsible for ensuring that on-line content is presented in compliance with Tulane University and School of Medicine branding and visual identity guidelines. The Designer will work in conjunction with the Dean's Office, IT, and the University Privacy Officer to ensure that information transmitted or collected through the School Website is secured in a manner sufficient to meet regulatory and school privacy requirements. Finally, the Designer will provide support and training to content management personnel in all departments, centers, and institutes across the school.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to relate and train both technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, WordPress, and working within a content management system framework.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of site architecture maps and wireframe drawings
  • Ability to learn and implement new software, when needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot website issues.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in groups or teams.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5 years' relevant web design, page layout and html experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing technical support in person, via phone or email.
  • Project Management skills.
