As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.Reporting to the responsible Design Manager, this role will support work within the DNNP Balance of Plant scope and will be responsible for planning, design, and execution of the lifting and rigging operations.What You'll Do Here:
- Work closely with filed team to understand their need and prepare concept, design for all required temporary structures (Other than Proprietary structures)
- Collaborate with external engineers and internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics
- Create and finalizing shop fabrication drawings including custom fabrication and design.
- Material take off and generation of bill of materials.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify any errors or discrepancies (This is including permanent structure : Shop drawing and fabrication drawing)
- Support all projects through the fabrication process or temporary and permanent steel structures.
- Design / plan and supervision all structural steel required for: - Working platform - Brackets, - Access scaffolding - Formwork in house brackets - Base plates - anchorage - Tie off point - working at height elements - tie backs - guying and bracing all structures during construction.
- Prepare and plan design for special items such as structures on rail- skidding - tracks - lugs - boxes
- Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
- Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality
- All other duties as assigned
- Post secondary education in an Engineering Civil discipline.
- Professional engineer (P.Eng) required
- Minimum 5-10 years experience in structural steel design and detailing fabrication and machining of structural steel including Cutting, sheeting, welding and CNC.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills
- Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
- Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated
- Thrive on a fast paced-environment
