Graduate Assistant Employment OpportunityJOB DESCRIPTION:***OPEN TO CURRENT STANISLAUS STATE STUDENTS, CURRENTLY ENROLLED OR ELIGIBILE TO ENROLL ONLY***Job Title and Description: Graduate Teaching Assistant in HistoryThe Department of History seeks applications for five Graduate Assistantships for sections of HIST 1010 World Civilizations I and HIST 2600 Problems in US History to be offered during the Fall 2024 semester. Interested students should send a resume, letter of application, class schedule, and available work schedule to Graduate Program Director Paul Strauss at pstrauss@csustan.edu. The letter should include the total number of graduate units completed prior to the Fall 2024 semester, overall graduate GPA, and a description of the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for the position.Graduate Assistants will assist in teaching sections of HIST 1010 World Civilizations I and HIST 2600 Problems in US History. Graduate Assistants will attend lectures, take notes, observe the instructor's pedagogical style and techniques, lead in-class discussions, and may give a class lecture (on average 3 hours per week); hold office hours to provide students with individualized and small group tutoring for homework assignments and exam preparation (on average 5 hours per week); prepare a teaching portfolio including teaching materials and a teaching statement (on average 2 hours per week); and work with the instructor to evaluate and provide feedback on student work (on average 4 hours per week).Wage/Salary: $1,136 (anticipated monthly pay) /Full time monthly Base Rate: $3,246 based on FTE and number of days worked
