In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university.Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Webster-Wood lab. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will be responsible for creation of biohybrid design tools leveraging computational design and ML-based surrogate modeling. Additionally, you will assist with creating custom fabrication platforms and associated slicing or toolpathing software to facilitate fabrication of biohybrid robot scaffolds and actuators. Lastly, you will be involved in all aspects of neuromuscular cell culture and tissue engineering required to fabricate and test biohybrid robots.Your core responsibilities will include:Conducting bioprinting and cell cultureConducting immunofluorescent and functional assessments of tissuesCreating and/or running necessary software for data analysisIsolating primary cells from embryonic chicken sourcesManaging a small team of student researchersContributing to management of cell culture inventory and equipmentPublishing and presenting findings in relevant scientific venuesOther duties as assignedFlexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University.
