Summary:The Capital Gazette seeks a creative and energetic editor to lead an organization that has roots going back to 1727.This editor will work with a team of journalists, cultivating enterprise and breaking news coverage, identifying, assigning and editing Annapolis and Anne Arundel County news content, managing 's digital channels and executing community engagement strategies.This position coordinates emerging and enterprise coverage for and daily editions of The Capital, the twice-weekly Maryland Gazette. This editor also coordinates coverage with its parent news organization, The Baltimore Sun.What you will do:Monitors breaking news and assigns, edits and produces daily and enterprise stories in varied formatsPrograms content on the Capital Gazette websiteCurates audience engagement tools, such as programming newsletters, email, web and desktop alerts as well as posting to social media platformsGuides reporters on story development, ensuring the content is fair, balanced and compellingUses audience analytics and news judgment to inform decisions on content assignments and engagement strategiesWorks shifts that may include nights and/or weekends, as news dictatesWhat you will bring:Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experienceExcellent writing and editing skillsAt least two years of experience as an editor/producerExcellent knowledge of SEO and digital strategiesProven ability to work quickly and accurately using a Web-based content managementWho we are:The Baltimore Sun is the largest general-circulation daily newspaper based in the state of Maryland and provides coverage of local and regional news, events, issues, people, and industries.
