To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: To be fully engaged in providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences and Financial Stewardship by demonstrating ability to effectively and efficiently operate cardiac monitors under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Quality/No Harm:
- Responds to visitor/patient emergencies appropriately according to department/facility standards.
- Runs and places rhythm strips in designated place.
- Accurately identifies and reports arrhythmias.
- Initiates patient set-up and maintains monitor equipment.
- Performs quality EKG tracing and performs Stat EKGs when requested.
- Must demonstrate dependability, reliability and flexibility.
- Provides relief and assistance to HUC as needed.
- Demonstrates effective telephone etiquette.
- Facilitates responding to call lights in a timely manner.
- Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs
- Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores for department/medical center and/or written compliments by patients/others as well as consistent support of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
- Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have completed dysrhythmia course with at least 80% passing grade and completion of 80 clinical hours OR have training/education AND certification as a Paramedic.
- Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion card.
- Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks.
- Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift.
- Must be able to sit up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- Potential for exposure to bio hazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases.
- Must have ability to work in often-stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
- Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
- Must have ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations.
- Must have continuous concentration watching computer/monitor screens with only dinner and break times as per hospital policy.
