Data Analyst 1 - Missing Child Data Analytics

- This position requires the ability to access and use NCIC/Nlets data after successfully completing VCIN certification
- Identify and collect relevant data from any source necessary including, but not limited to, law enforcement agencies, NCMEC’s internal resources and the Internet resources; organize and analyze the collected data; and prepare a final report by the assigned completion date
- Produce maps using geographic imaging system (GIS) mapping software from the analyzed material
- Conduct data analysis in response to internal, law enforcement and media requests for information
- Evaluate assigned projects to determine the resources necessary and develop a methodological framework to accurately respond to information inquiries. Develop a schedule to ensure all projects and deliverables are completed on time
- Prepare clear, concise deliverables communicating findings, limitations, constraints and research approach to data inquiries
- Possess strong knowledge of academic research, literature and legislation pertaining to missing children issues
- Provide verbal presentations to NCMEC staff, law enforcement and media if required
- Provide technical assistance by performing open source research to enhance in-depth missing child case reviews as needed
- Periodically subject to on call status to assist law enforcement agencies with emergency search requests
- Provide Team status report at Division meetings on a rotating basis
- Work day, evening, weekend shift work, and on-call rotation, as required
- Promote a professional image
- Communicate with co-workers, management, law enforcement officials, and others in a courteous and professional manner
- Conform with and abide by all NCMEC regulations, policies, and work procedures
- Respond promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence
- Other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree in related subject area or field preferred
- Two to three years related experience
- Analytical experience to include information analysis and research
- Experience with collecting, organizing, analyzing information and producing logical, concise reports
- Working knowledge of Esri’s GIS mapping software, to include ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro preferred
- Excellent data analysis skills to include generating descriptive statistics, identifying trends and calculating various measures of central tendency
- Experience querying, manipulating and displaying data using SQL, Tableau, and ArcGIS, preferred
- Knowledge in, or ability to learn, querying languages such as SQL
- Analytical background in law enforcement is preferred, with an emphasis on analyzing criminal activity or related experience analyzing missing children’s cases
- Strong writing skills to include report writing for a variety of audiences with the ability to display results visually
- Strong quantitative skills to complete periodic internal and external reports identifying demographic and workload trends
- Strong computer skills including the use of MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Access
- Excellent organizational, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Strong self-motivation and comfort with exercising autonomy over research design and analytical approach
- Ability to learn new software and technologies to enhance data preparation and output to include a passion for innovation
