DSG is seeking a HVAC Purchasing Supervisor in our Plymouth, MN location. As a Purchasing Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting and leading HVAC results through the effective management, forecasting, and utilization of our inventory investment and HVAC purchasing team. Responsibilities include managing large-scale and significant inventory purchases to ensure successful inventory management within the HVAC segment. Additionally, the Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for proactively analyzing sales trends and collaborate with branch, segment, and sales team, to identify purchasing opportunities, as well as use market trend data to identify potential new offerings.At DSG, we are dedicated to building futures one job at a time.   • Work directly with segment manager, regional leadership, and segment specific managers to plan, forecast, and execute on strategic inventory purchases.
  • Reviews and places purchase orders with vendors for replenishment of stock or non-stock items, checks pricing and descriptions.
  • Plans, schedules, and creates unified buying and return calendars for seasonal based products.
  • Acts as liaison between segment manager and dedicated purchasing staff in relevant segment.
  • Creates and executes consistent forecasting model to provide branch and regions inventory templates.
  • Makes significant decisions impacting large investments in inventory.
  • Works closely with Purchasing and Segment Manager and internal stakeholders to ensure strong understanding of purchasing needs for assigned area.
  • Coordinates, plans, and executes on segment specific line changes.
  • Identifies and proposes product cross and line consolidations.
  • Stays current on market pricing and takes advantage of special pricing, terms, freight, discounts, dating, rebates and return goods programs on items purchased to be competitive.
  • Analyzes reports for demand, order points, unusual movement, stock-outs, overstock or excess inventory.
  • Responds to sales associate requests on a timely basis.
  • Monitors overdue purchase orders and communicates with sales teams.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Field leaders to ensure proper inventory levels at all locations and to identify the proper demand needed for seasonal buys.
  • Expert in operating system’s purchasing module, including the ramification of parameter settings.
  • Maintains a high level of product knowledge.
  • Lead, mentor and supervise a dynamic team of purchasing professionals in multiple branch locations.
  • Validation and verification of key line pricing, price increases, updates, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
A Successful HVAC Purchasing Supervisor Typically Has:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with secondary or post-secondary coursework concentrated in a related field, or equivalent on the job experience as determined by the company.
  • 5+ years of purchasing and/or inventory management experience preferred
  • 5+ years of HVAC-related sales or operations experience preferred
  • Proven proficiency in general personal computer applications, as well as in the use of Microsoft Office software, specializing in Excel.
  • Strong communication (negotiation, verbal, written) and customer service skills.
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to collaborate with internal leaders and external partners.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
