The roleThe School of Physics at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Lecturer whose primary role will be to deliver undergraduate teaching, and to undertake pedagogic research. This full-time post is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of nationally leading practices for teaching, learning and assessment.The post is open ended with fixed funding for three years.What will you be doing?You will be involved in a range of undergraduate teaching activities in the school, including small group tutorials, lectures, workshops, and support classes using a range of effective approaches. There will be opportunities to contribute to the preparation and development of units. You will set and mark coursework, examinations and other assessment tasks. You will engage effectively with the University's Cultivating Research-rich Education and Teaching Excellence (CREATE) scheme.An important part of your role will be to develop an awareness of pedagogical research, engage in some research relating to this, and to share innovative and effective teaching practices with colleagues as a member of the Physics Education Group.You should apply ifApplicants should hold a good honours degree in Physics and a PhD in Physics or other relevant subject and have significant experience of teaching in higher education.As the postholder you will have excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills. You will demonstrate awareness of the academic and needs of undergraduate students. You will provide effective pastoral support to students, referring them on for further help and/or guidance as necessary, in conjunction with the student support and wellbeing teams.Applications should include a cover letter, a statement of teaching philosophy (no more than 2 sides of A4 each), in addition to a full resume (curriculum vitae).
