OverviewWestlake Paving & Aggregates, a division of Lafarge Canada Inc., operating in the Okanagan Valley is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Shipping Loader Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Aggregate Foreman, the main responsibility of this position is to load customers with material. This loader position will also be responsible for feeding the crusher and/or Powerscreener when required. There is also maintenance, screen changes, and other labour intensive duties as required. This position includes loading our customers, feeding the crusher, breaking asphalt rubble piles, screen changes, maintenance, and operation of the Powerscreener.Westlake Paving & Aggregates has established itself as a trusted provider of paving & aggregate solutions, catering to the diverse needs of residential, commercial, and municipal clients.   • Operation of the shipping loader in a timely and courteous manner
  • Operate the loader safely and efficiently
  • Operate the Powerscreener safely and efficiently
  • Shoveling, screen changing, use of hand tools and other labour duties as assigned
  • Tower experience is beneficial
  • Partake in daily/winter maintenance and complete repairs as required
  • Small service and maintenance of the Loader (greasing, fluid levels, monitoring equipment performance)
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping
  • Assist with other duties as required from time to time
Qualifications and CompetenciesEducation & Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience operating a loader
  • Must be familiar with loader scales and truck weights
  • Aggregate crushing/screening experience beneficial
  • Preferred mechanical inclination/experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a preference given to those holding a class 1 or 3 with air break

  • Willing to learn and take direction
  • Must be able to independently & proficiently operate a Loader
  • Must communicate well with customers & co-workers
  • Must be able to work under a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Must be physically fit to perform required duties of crusher maintenance, successful candidate will have to pass a physical assessment
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, nights, and early starts (irregular hours) when operationally necessary
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
