The Horizon Team at Meta is building a social User Generated Content (UGC) platform where the world’s creators will be able to create their place, and enable their communities to connect, engage and play in all kinds of ways. Ouro Interactive is Oculus Studios’ newest 1st Party game studio, and Meta’s first in-house game studio dedicated exclusively to creating lighthouse games for Horizon Worlds. As a Character Artist for Ouro Interactive, you’ll be at the forefront of shipping VR-best experiences for the ever-expanding Horizon metaverse.Responsibilities:As a senior character artist, you will be responsible for creating high quality stylized character assets from concept art. You’ll be responsible for leading the 3d character art domain for Ouro helping the team build and establish a strong pipeline along with the creation and run-time integration of high quality assets. This involves working with Art, Design, and Engineering to create best in class 3d characters for mobile VR platforms at Meta.Create high quality character assets and their equipment including sculpting , modeling, uv’s, texturing, and materials.Lead the 3d character art domain, establishing technical and aesthetic best practices, writing clear documentation, and help build and master proprietary tools.Work in dynamic, cross-disciplinary teams (Engineering, Design, Art, etc) to implement high quality characters, and relevant equipment.Responsible for developing runtime performant character assets with high quality topology ready for animation.Creation of high quality LOD assets and the ability to optimize runtime transitions to find the appropriate balance between performance and fidelity.Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for level creation pipeline.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve our proprietary tools to improve the quality of our characters.Must be able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Minimum Qualifications:Experience using or making games with a 3D engine (Unreal, Unity, etc.).Expert level proficiency with a major content creation software (Zbrush, Blender, Maya, Substance Painter etc.).Expert skills creating textures and shaders for a stylized PBR environment.Must be receptive to art direction and critiques from project leads.Experience demonstrating resourcefulness and creativity in problem-solving.A foundation in traditional art skills including a great understanding of anatomy, lighting, and color theory.Proven communication and presentation skills.Preferred Qualifications:5+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 1 shipped titles.Experience producing VR, MR, or AR games.Mobile, Console, or PC game development experience.Proven skills in another game development domain, such as weapon art, character concept, rigging, skinning, or animation.Experience in game development with both internal and external development teams.Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment, juggling projects and developers.Knowledgeable about trends in the VR/MR/AR space as they relate to the products being developed by Ouro Interactive.About Meta:Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
