Hatcher HallPay Grade: ProfessionalJob Description:The GeauxTeach STEM program enables students to earn a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, math or physics while also getting certified to teach one of these STEM subject areas to grades 6-12 in Louisiana - all in just four years. Students in Geaux Teach take an integrated sequence of hands-on teaching courses alongside their major requirements. This innovative pathway culminates in a full year of teacher residency, preparing candidates for the real-world classroom.The GeauxTeach Program Manager oversees the fulfillment of the larger organizational goals. This person works closely with the GeauxTeach Co-Directors and the GeauxTeach Professors to navigate the direction of the program, execute tasks, and achieve objectives on a timeline. The GeauxTeach Program Manager coordinates with GeauxTeach Master Teachers, the College of Science Director of Special Programs, and other College of Science and School of Education faculty and staff, especially the Office of Professional Experience.Job DutiesMANAGE OPERATIONS - 65%Manages Stakeholder Engagement - The employee:■ Oversees comprehensive recruitment operations;■ Acts as point of contact for inquiries about the program;■ Maintains regular verbal and written communications with current students and with GeauxTeach Student Organization;■ Works collaboratively with the Office of Communications and University Relations and adheres to the standards set by the division (website, social media, newsletter, etc.);■ Develops and executes alumni relations strategy (events, reunions, conferences, panels, mentor team, induction support).Serves as liaison for the program:■ Maintains regular communication with all partners & stakeholders. These include GeauxTeach STEM Donors, Funding Agencies (NSF, US Dept of Ed., LA BOR); LSU College of Science, LSU College of Human Science & Education, including the School of Education and Office of Professional Experiences; LSU College Engineering; Local School Districts; LSU UCFY & UCAC; LSU Enrollment Management & Registrar; Mentor Teachers; GeauxTeach STEM Alum, LSU Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy; LSU Communications Across the Curriculum (CxC); LSU Campus Life, including the Science and Honors Residential Colleges.■ Represents GeauxTeach on various committees, e.g., LSU Teacher Education Council, College of Science Communications Team Meetings, Office of Communications and University Relations, University Supervisor Meeting (OPE, etc.).Manages Data:■ Maintains data base for obligatory reporting & accreditation;■ Maintains the Program Dashboard, showing current students enrollment & status in a FERPA-compliant structure. The Dashboard creates alerts to respond to current individual & collective student needs;■ Collect sand archives data (surveys, alumni, grants);■ Tracks projects & completion of goals;■ Maintains calendar of events.Provides Administrative Support:■ Manages program purchasing & expenditures (in cooperation with the College of Science Dean's Office Staff). This includes travel, events, food, equipment and supplies, stipends for mentor teachers, students and alumni;■ Serves on scholarship committees;■ Supervises student workers, including hiring, terminating, assigning duties, shifting workload, etc.;■ Monitors and responds to classroom conditions (Prescott 136/205/Student Lair-Prescott 124 & staff offices);■ Communicates with Prescott building manager and College of Science Computer Manager.MENTORING - 30%Chief GeauxTeach Mentor for undergraduate students - The employee:■ Cooperates with College of Science Office of Academic/Student Services;■ Collaborates with CHSE Office of Professional Experiences;■ Supervises teacher residents;■ Plans and conducts GeauxTeach Mentor Workshop (for teachers who mentor)■ Develops & Manages a Teacher Induction Program■ Assists the instructors of courses in the GeauxTeach curriculum, including but not necessarily limited to:- SCI 2010, SCI 2011- EDCI 3550OTHER - 5%Performs other duties and/or special projects, as agreed by the GeauxTeach Directors.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in STEM or related field3 years teaching in high-needs K-12 settings in the U.S.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in STEM or related fieldSubstantial data management experienceExperience preparing K-12 STEM teachersMore than 1 year teaching in high-needs K-12 settings in the U.S.Preferred CertificationSecondary Teacher Certification in a STEM subjectSpecial/Physical QualificationsPhysical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer/laptop/iPad; ability to sit and/or stand in the same position for extended periods (3.5 to 4 hours) at a time. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through various technology platforms through use of phone, e-mail, instant messaging (ex. Teams), virtual platforms (ex. Zoom), and direct contact with individuals. Due to the nature of the position and/or responsibilities, in times of emergencies and/or University closures, this position is considered operational essential.
