Hampton, VirginiaWorks under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Office and director of Clinical Services to provide clinical and administrative supervision for all admissions employees and the services they provide to patients, and their families at Riverside Mental Health Recovery Center. The manager oversees the interviewing, hiring and staffing, while being directly responsible for ensuring team compliance with health system and regulatory policies, from pre-assessment through post discharge. The employees of the department are considered the coordinators and nursing staff.Riverside Mental Health Recovery Center's Emergency Department is the first stand alone Behavioral Health ED in the state of Virginia.This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus and relocation.What you will do
  • Demonstrates good judgment in staffing/patient care needs and makes good decisions. Communicates and documents appropriately, changes in staffing/patient care, sick callouts, etc. Makes calls to fill vacancies. Holds staff accountable. Documents concerns/issues to Managers and Directors as appropriate.
  • Directs the administration and operation of the Admissions department efficiently, effectively and in a professional manner. Notifies administrator on-call/management team appropriately as directed by hospital procedure. Collects information and statements as appropriate. Notifies appropriate management staff of admissions concerns. Rounds frequently in Admissions
  • Demonstrates positive nursing leadership skills through supportive behaviors that include developing/educating staff on policies/procedures/best practices/strategic goals. Serves as a role model. Looks for ways to help coach and mentor others. Professional in interactions and discourages gossip. Makes expectations clear with a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks to facilitate quality patient care and ensure all patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Empowers team members and gives sound direction for prioritizing and improving workflows.
  • Recognizes and reports variances and provides resolutions. Investigates nursing errors, complaints concerning nursing care, patient/visitor accidents and counsels personnel at the time of occurrence or when error is discovered as appropriate. Enters rCare reports and CHRIS in a timely manner.
  • Rounds on all units and provides assistance in planning nursing care and evaluating effectiveness of care, problem solving, interpreting nursing policies and patient room assigning. Monitors staff and assignments. Ensures staff are in appropriate locations.
QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required)
Experience
  • 3-4 years Emergency Department and/ or Behavioral health (Required)
  • 2 years Leadership (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
