Department:Public UtilitiesAbout Our JobReading water meters and entering readings and codes into a handheld meter reading device or laptop. Completing work orders for meter reading and trades worker type tasks. Performing an annual manual reading and data verification of all radio read meters.Job Description:Completes daily assigned radio reads for monthly billing.Completes monthly manual read of any manually read meters remaining in the billing system.Completes verification of radio read meters, verifying meter and transmitter data along with collecting a non-billable reading and other pertinent information, as assigned daily.Performs light maintenance on boxes such as, replacing lids and removing extra debris to make manual reading easier.Performs skilled duties such as, raising or lowering meter boxes and replacing meter boxes when requested or found in need of replacement, pulling meters if found tampered with, and straightening meters found to avoid inaccuracies.Replaces water meter registers and transmitters as requested or if found reading inaccurately.Keeps communication with the supervisor about changes in daily duties.Places necessary codes in the laptop computer to supplement billing questions.Reports any discrepancies of information to supervisor and billing for corrections.Uses good customer service skills to answer general questions asked by customers when in the field.Responds to spontaneous requests by the supervisor, billing, and utilities customer service.Posts notices to customers for high usage or leaks found contributing to meter usage, requiring immediate customer attention.Performs further requested field investigations as requested by supervisor, billing, and utilities customer service.Contact customers before delinquency disconnection.Reports and plays a part in re-sequencing to make manual reading more efficient.Work Hours: 40 Hours Per Week - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. On-Call Required. On-Call Monday - Friday, starting 3:30 p.m. every afternoon and will end every Friday at midnight.About YouMinimum Qualifications:A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one-year of experience in plumbing/irrigation/pool trade.Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.Preferred Qualifications: Utility or plumbing field experience preferred with working knowledge of water and/or sewer piping and water meters.Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
