- Lead and manage a team of mortgage underwriters, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure team members are up-to-date on industry regulations, underwriting guidelines, and technological advancements.
- Evaluate and streamline underwriting processes to enhance efficiency and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Implement digital mortgage underwriting solutions and leverage technology to improve overall workflow.
- Develop and enforce underwriting policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed about changes in the mortgage industry and make proactive adjustments to underwriting practices accordingly.
- Establish and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of underwriting decisions.
- Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments, including loan processing, sales, and compliance, to foster effective communication and achieve organizational goals.
- Work closely with technology teams to implement and optimize digital underwriting tools and platforms.
- Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of the underwriting team and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders, including borrowers, loan officers, and other relevant parties.
- Generate regular reports on underwriting performance, trends, and key metrics for senior management.
- 10+ years underwriting FHA, VA, Conventional Mortgage Loans
- 5+ years in a underwriting management role
- Several years of experience in mortgage underwriting, with a strong understanding of both traditional and digital underwriting processes.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with mortgage underwriting software and digital tools.
Schedule will be 3 days in office, 2 days from home.Salary $80-85K
