Dogwood Veterinary Dental is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our team! Dogwood is strictly a Dental practice only, so if you love dentistry, this is the place for you! We offer regular dental check-ups and teeth cleanings as well as advanced procedures such as oral surgery. We believe that dental care is as important for pets as it is for humans which is why we pride ourselves on providing exceptional pet dental services to our patients. We are a procedure-based clinic so we only have a small number of patients per day and are able to give them the best care and attention with a supportive and collaborative team environment.We are only open 4 days a week to ensure a great work-life balance!Position Overview: As a Veterinary Technician you will play an important role in the day-to-day operations with Dogwood Veterinary Dental. The Veterinary Assistant assists the Veterinarians with patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized pets, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, perform routine in-house lab work, educate clients regarding veterinary care, and assist with anesthetic procedures.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in determining animal requirements by helping conduct animal examinations, restraining patients, and reviewing care plans and records
  • Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering vaccines, providing wound care management, completing laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
  • Prep and assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures
  • Fill prescriptions and administer PO, SQ, IM, IV medications, including proper documentation, logging and security of controlled drugs
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment, i.e., EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, and anesthetic monitors and machines
  • Anesthetize animals, monitor anesthesia, and complete dental procedures under the direction and supervision of the Veterinarian
  • Ability to demonstrate and follow procedures in catheter placement and phlebotomy
  • Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updates database in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations
Qualifications and Skills:
  • At least 2 years of experience performing above duties
  • Confident with anesthesia monitoring, dental assisting, and pre & post op care
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and calculations
  • Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion
  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors
Available Schedule: Full-time position, shifts will be Tues-Fri from 7am-5pm
  • We are open: Tuesday-Friday from 7:10am-5pm
