Description :DESCRIPTIONAs a Compliance Engineer specializing in Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) standards, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the necessary safety and quality requirements for domestic and international markets. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining product certification and approvals for new and existing products.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant NRTL standards, regulations, and guidelines, including but not limited to OSHA, ANSI, UL, CSA, and NFPA standards.
  • Product Testing and Evaluation: Design, plan, and execute testing protocols to assess product safety, reliability, and compliance with NRTL standards. This may involve conducting tests in-house or coordinating with external testing laboratories.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports documenting test procedures, results, and compliance status. Maintain accurate records of all testing activities and ensure compliance documentation is complete and up-to-date.
  • Product Certification: Work closely with certification agencies and NRTLs to obtain product certifications and approvals. Manage the certification process from start to finish, including submitting necessary documentation, responding to inquiries, and addressing any non-compliance issues.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure that appropriate mitigation measures are implemented to minimize risks to product safety and compliance.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to integrate compliance requirements into product development processes and ensure that compliance considerations are addressed throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in compliance testing and certification processes. Proactively recommend and implement changes to enhance product safety and compliance while minimizing costs and time to market.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Advanced degree or certification in regulatory compliance is a plus.
  • 5-10 years experience with engineering compliance or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of NRTL standards, regulations, and certification processes.
  • Familiarity with Hazloc standards including IEC 60079, FM3600, CSA C22.2 No. 60079, and UL1203.
  • Familiarity with EU directives including CE Marking, ATEX, EMC, LVD, PED, and RoHS.
  • Familiarity with FCC & ICES Interference regulations.
  • Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70.
  • Familiarity with UL 61010 & UL 60947 and Canadian equivalents is a plus.
  • Have experiences with product certification processes for IECEx, ATEX, UL, CSA, FM, and CRN is a plus.
  • Proven experience in compliance testing and evaluation, preferably in a related industry.
  • Experience with Functional Safety Certifications SIL (IEC 61508) a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop effective documentation scheme for agency controlled documents. Familiarity with relevant software tools for data analysis and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks and Adobe illustrator is a plus.
