- BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
- On-site (50-75% onsite, work in the lab), in San Diego, CA
- Active SECRET DoD clearance or higher
- 5+ years experience in a System Engineering or System Analyst position, with a focus on communications systems and protocols
- Experience with cellular technology highly desired
- System engineering, causal models & diagrams (such as fishbone), development & breakdown of requirements, analysis of sequence and flow diagrams, Digital Engineering (DE), and Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE)
- Configuration management (CM) systems and tools, source-code and documentation control, version control such as Sharepoint, Jira/Confluence, Clearcase, Clearquest, DOORs, subversion, GIT, and custom solutions
- Standards, specifications, APIs, internet protocols (ex: RFCs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), design specifications and descriptions, flow and sequence diagrams, UML models, engineering memos, feature characterizations, step-by-step guides, training packages, dissection of complex systems into sub-components
- Functional and requirements-based testing
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Proficiency with MS Teams, Skype, or similar audio-video conferencing products, and good communication skills demonstrating ability to work within local and remote teams
- Configuration and operation of communications infrastructure and testing of WCDMA-based end-user equipment
- encryption and PKI concepts, key and certificate generation, management, and use
- Embedded Systems (RTOS), including familiarity with components such as GPPs, DSPs, and FPGAs, IDEs and JTAG probes.
- Familiarity with 3G/4G/LTE/5G technologies, both user equipment and network. Experience can be substituted with any other circuit and packet switched telephony equipment for Analog, ISDN, T1/E1, digital communications, PBXs, VoIP, or similar infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Networking Equipment (Routers, Switches), and protocols (Ethernet/IP, ATM circuits/fiber, a plus). Proficiency with IPv4, routing, and subnetting. Knowledge of TCP/UDP and Multicast protocols.
- Experience with lab RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, noise generators, protocol analyzers, data and impairment generators required.
- Experience with passive and active RF components (splitters/combiners, connector types, circulators, adapters, couplers, mixers, amplifiers and LNAs).
- General Programming and Scripting skills, including but not limited to Perl or Python, batch scripts, PowerShell, or similar. Job requires ability to modify and utilize multiple computer environments (Windows and Linux), automating log analysis and file parsing.
