- Complete documentation as necessary in a timely manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially database and reporting tools. Proficient in HyperTerminal or similar software communicating with printer ports and control panels
- Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record
- NICET Level II or above preferred. Must be willing to progress through NICET Training to Level IV fire alarm and Fire Suppression.
- MN PLT Preferred. Same or similar accepted with willingness to apply and pass PLT exam
- Minimum of 5 years preferred industry experience
- Extensive knowledge of life safety, NFPA codes and JACCO or Joint Commission
- Working knowledge of alarm control panels, devices and critical components, including programming
- Working Knowledge of networking panels, BACnet, WebClients and BAS interfaces a plus.
- Understanding of commercial fire alarm systems strongly encouraged
- Experience with commercial security/CCTV/Access control preferred, but not required
- Physically capable to work on aerial lifts and ladders; work in heavy industrial applications and confined spaces, as required
- Limited local travel
- Manufacturer training endorsements a plus
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening, background and reference checks
- Service, inspections and programming of fire alarms, fire life safety communicators and associated systems.
- Verifies alarm system functionality by testing equipment, connections and signals; identifies and corrects any and all problems
- Performs system tests as required by contract, permit or NFPA
- Maintains accurate records by documenting inspections and observations, and communicates problems encountered or identified with the alarm system
- Maintains customer rapport by resolving concerns; answering questions
- Performs related tasks as required, up to and including: Responding to service requests, diagnose system malfunctions of alarm systems and making adjustments, repairs or replace equipment.
