- Ensures trauma patients receive a continuum of optimal care within the context of the American College of Surgeons Optimal Guidelines, the Florida State Approved Trauma
- Center Standards, The Joint Commission Standards, and Holmes Regional Medical Center Policy and Procedures.
- Provide oversight, submission control and data validation for both the State of Florida and the national TQIP [Trauma Quality Improvement Program.
- Should serve as a resource to and contributor for the clinical informatics group that is developing and building the data fields in the Emergency Department (ED) Electronic Health Record (EHR) or registry specific software.
- Responsible for aggregating, validating data for submission for both Health First trauma and Health First community hospitals acute care injury data sets fro the FL DOH ACH Databank
- Performs account management service functions for all TPA groups
- Performs routine duties independently and discusses and seeks approval on complex matters with account manager/management
- Completes miscellaneous projects assigned by Manager or Director
- Oversees optimization of data entry to produce graphical Performance Improvement (PI) reports to both analyze and drive improved clinical documentation improvement at the Point of Care (POC)
- Is a member of the core performance improvement team in data acquisition for the PI activities
- Supports the trauma program through astute accuracy of all reports that are provided to entities which provide funding for trauma care.
- Coordinates and provides oversight to abstractor personnel entering data into the registry databases.
- Coordinates obtaining/abstracting various external information to complete case review for the trauma injured population, inclusive of ME reports, EMS and referral facilities.
- Participates in State Trauma Committees as applicable.
- Supports all project initiatives and preparedness for trauma site surveys.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the trauma administration in maintaining the organizations trauma application.
- EMS Liaison.
- Participates in Injury Prevention program development.
- Associates Degree or higher preferred. Prefer LPN or RN or Degree in HIM.
- 8 hours trauma-related education every 2 years required.
- Achieve status as certified Trauma Registrar through nationally recognized course within 2 years.
- Experience with medical management information systems and medical software.
- Must be able to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform various tasks.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity required for typing and filing.
- Ability to work and maintain composure in a stressful environment.
- Ability to analyze various situations and provide possible solutions to issues.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work extended hours to see an issue to resolution.
