CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICESPOSITION DESCRIPTIONTitle: Social Work SupervisorTitle of Supervisor: AdministratorOrganizational Unit: Catholic Social Services/Casa del CarmenHours: Monday- Friday 8:30am - 4:30 pm, with evening and weekend hours as neededClassification: Full TimeLocation: Casa del CarmenMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises programs, services, staff and volunteers at Casa del Carmen Family Service Center and The Cenacle at the Padre Pio Center. Assures services and programs are developed and delivered in compliance with all CSS policies, procedures, and/or regulations. Assures program compliance and contracted obligations with funding sources. Responsible for the management of site-related duties and supervision of programs under the Administrator's purview in his or her absence.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Directly from the Administrator of Casa del Carmen.SUPERVISION GIVEN: Directly supervises parent educators, social workers and Case Aids. May supervise student intern(s), support staff, volunteers, and/or work activity clients at Administrator's request.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly supervises work and work flow of social work, case managers, case aides and support staff. Conducts regular ongoing supervision with assigned staff for the purpose of communicating priorities and objectives, resolving problems, and planning work. Confers with staff in a supervisory manner for cases and problems requiring supervisory input, and assures integrity of all case management services and program activities provided.
  • Understands and oversees the management of existing site-specific programs as well as government contracted programs and services, assures program and fiscal compliance and attends meetings/trainings as required. Currently, programs and contracts include Collaboration with the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia and The Capuchin Friars at The Cenacle at Padre Pio Center, Real Alternatives, PHMC DHS Parenting Collaborative, Casa del Carmen Family Service Center, Food, Diaper and Hygiene Pantries at both locations, A Call Away Helpline and Document Assistance.
  • Has understanding and awareness of the Case del Carmen Preschool Academy and the regulatory bodies and the contracts associated with the facility and its programs in case of needed consultation in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Has understanding and awareness of the Philadelphia Migrant and Immigrant Welcome Center and its staff, volunteers, partners and collaborations that exist in order to assist in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and oversees new program initiatives at assigned center(s) in consultation with the Administrator.
  • Collaborates with other staff members, community organizations, local political offices and parishes in the delivery of CSS programs and support services.
  • Monitors staff development, completes and documents supervisory notes, and completes annual evaluations of staff.
  • Reviews, approves, and monitors departmental staff travel and expenses on a weekly basis.
  • Maintains contact with Administrator including regularly scheduled supervisory meetings.
  • Assists Administrator in the interviewing, hiring and evaluating of staff as needed; makes personnel recommendations to Administrator in the areas of selection, evaluation, training, promotion, discipline, or dismissal; monitors the budget/spending in program and operational expenses.
  • Participates in monthly site meetings, supervisor meetings and other agency and/or community meetings when appropriate, may be responsible for facilitating or chairing such groups.

  • Knowledge of and orientation of philosophy of the Agency's policies as presented in Catholic Social Services Mission Statement.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic values and teachings as you are representing the agency when with clients and other agencies and institutions
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, participants, and visitors; cultural sensitivity and the ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse work place with a diverse client population is required.
  • Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information, and orient new staff to same.
  • Exceptional interpersonal personal skills that permit candidates to work with a diverse community and build collaborative relationships with a variety of community stakeholders.
  • Ability to responsibly prioritize competing tasks but also follow through in a timely manner.
  • Ability/Desire to work cooperatively as a team with other staff, the client, and client's circle of support.
  • Possess a valid PA State Driver's License and provide proof of automobile insurance/clean driving record.
  • Proficient to fluent in Spanish and English languages
  • Willingness to travel between various CSS sites.
Education
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field of study
Experience
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory experience in a non-profit setting
  • Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information, and orient staff to same.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time during both indoors and outdoors events.
