The UNC Department of Family Medicine in partnership with the UNC Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research seeks a clinician-scientist with a scholarly focus on chronic illness and/or problems of aging. The physician researcher will serve as a clinician educator in the Department and as Deputy Director of the Sheps Center's Program on Aging, Chronic Illness, and Long-Term Care.As a faculty physician in family medicine, you will be an integral part of the department's success. Faculty rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent UNC faculty physician benefits and clinical incentive pay.Like other faculty in the department, the person in this position will fulfill the institution's teaching mission and will teach and mentor medical students, interns, residents, fellows, and other learners in a variety of clinical settings. All faculty are encouraged to develop a scholarly interest which, in this case, will focus on aging, chronic illness, and long-term care. All faculty are expected to work as part of the larger team to improve access, reduce cost, improve quality, and promote efficiency and better health outcomes. You may be asked to engage in community outreach and attend professional events to assist with program development and building professional relationships. Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsMD or DO required. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and ExperienceFellowship training and/or an advanced degree (e.g. MPH) is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
