Sign Shop Production ManagerReports To: Vice PresidentStatus: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-timePosition Location: Jonesboro, GAOverview:The Sign Shop Production Manager will be responsible for assisting our team in establishing our new sign shop, and overseeing the operation of the shop once it is operational. This manager will lead the production of road signs for various roadway projects. This Manager takes the lead in converting conceptual ideas from customers and creates actionable plans to produce the desired product. This manager should be experienced in all aspects of the production process.Key Abilities for Position Success:Building Collaborative Relationships: Must have the ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.   • Produce manufacturing drawings from concepts provided by customers.
  • Work with Sales and Production teams to ensure products are meeting customer requirements; as well as helping to establish pricing.
  • Ensure production designs are created in standard matching formats to ensure clarity.
  • Review production of outsourced parts and materials to maintain quality standards.
  • Produce conceptual plans and drawings for the sales team’s use with customers.
  • Produce Cut files for in-house production.
  • Coordinate the production process, (materials acquisition, processing, shipping, etc.).
  • Update designs using graphic design software.
  • Create patterns for installation.
  • Identify and track the costs of the sign shop.
  • Create processes for receiving orders, sending proofs, receiving approvals, and fulfilling orders.
  • Establishing layout of sign shop.
  • Scheduling employees to meet production schedules.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of related work experience.
  • Able to recommend products and equipment to be used in the production process.
  • Proficient in graphic design software.
  • Proficient in software programs utilizing graphic layouts.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Experience in typography, color, scale, and graphic composition.
  • Knowledge of material fabrication.
  • Experience with sign installation is a plus.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills must be verifiable as a top strength.
  • Be familiar with sheeting types and applications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and team members.
Working Conditions:Physical Requirements
  • Sit, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of machines or vehicles to exact positions.
  • Ability to judge the distances between you and an object, depth perception.
  • Ability to respond to a signal when it appears, reaction time.
  • Coordinate the use of hands, arms, and legs fully. Reach for the handle and use it to manipulate objects and materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Vision – the ability to see details at close range and details at a distance (either naturally or with correction).
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.
Environmental Conditions
  • Work outside and be exposed to the weather.
  • Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
  • May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
