This position produces, manages, and executes various digital media projects on behalf of Marketing, Communications, and Stewardship (MCS). In this role, the Multimedia Producer must be both strategic and creative; he/she must be capable of producing engaging content across multiple platforms and identify new opportunities to engage with alumni, donors, and friends. Working in collaboration with strategists, writers, designers, web developers, fundraisers, and stewardship staff, this role serves to strengthen brand perception, alumni engagement, and fundraising efforts by creating video and multimedia content that engages, cultivates, and educates all Duke audiences. This position reports to the Executive Director of Content Strategy.The ideal candidate will have expertise in video production, editing, social media and experience producing multimedia content across various digital media platforms.Job Responsibilities
  • Produce and edit a mix of short- and long-form videos and social media content for digital platforms.
  • Book and record interviews in close collaboration with the Marketing, Communications, and Stewardship colleagues.
  • Research, write, and prepare storyboards, scripts, SEO-friendly titles, and descriptive copy.
  • Shoot photos and video, when necessary, for online content, social platforms, campaigns, indoor and outdoor interviews, and other creative projects.
  • Advise partners and other colleagues in best practices.
  • Adhere to strict editorial standards to ensure messaging and visuals are on-brand, accurate, and relevant.
Production Management
  • Manage all facets of production schedule from concept to execution, including scouting locations, equipment requirements, shooting and editing of projects.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of numerous multimedia projects each year utilizing various digital media platforms and project management tools, including Asana.
  • Collaborate with MCS colleagues to plan and execute all facets of multimedia projects.
  • Prioritize work, meet deadlines, and actively communicate progress and deliverables within project teams and with AED partners.
  • Partner with external vendors, when applicable, to schedule and deliver multimedia (video and audio) deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Professional experience in videography or a related field and a portfolio demonstrating strong creative proficiency. Prefer two to three years of directly related video and audio production experience.
  • Experience using video production equipment, including cameras, video recorders, editors, lighting instruments, and sound recording equipment.
  • Experience with social media audio equipment and live sound recording.
  • Experience with Drone operation.
  • Experience with script writing for productions.
  • Experience working in multimedia media for non-profit or higher education institutions.
  • Experience with project development from inception to completion using an understanding of project scope, feasibility, timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud and other multimedia post-production software.
  • Experience in providing a full range of media production, post-production, and delivery services for high-quality multimedia projects.
  • Strong story-telling skills with an understanding of how to create unique, accurate, informative, and engaging content on a variety of subjects to support various communication mediums.
  • Excellent organizational, consulting, interpersonal, and communication skills, with evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and diverse work environment.
  • Ability to develop videography that is fresh and engaging to alumni, donors, and friends of Duke.
  • Ability to create high-level video projects that communicate the university's vision and achievements to appeal to donors, alumni & prospective donors to increase revenue.
