Today, we are one of the world’s fastest growing insurance organizations, capable of writing in 128 countries on 6 continents.Job Description: Twin Maples Specialty, Starr’s new wholesale platform is looking for a dynamic and experienced Underwriter to join our Professional Liability team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in underwriting professional liability products, including Errors and Omissions (E&O), Directors and Officers (D&O), and Employment Practices Liability (EPL) insurance.Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal submissions for professional liability products, assessing risk exposures and determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing.
  • Analyze insurance applications, financial statements, loss history, and other relevant information to make underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients to achieve profitable growth and retention objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional service and support throughout the underwriting process.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as claims, legal, and compliance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Monitor market trends, emerging risks, and industry developments to identify opportunities for product enhancement and expansion.
  • Participate in underwriting meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional liability underwriting, preferably in a wholesale or specialty insurance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of professional liability insurance products, underwriting principles, and industry practices.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software/systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or similar are a plus.
