- Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal submissions for professional liability products, assessing risk exposures and determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing.
- Analyze insurance applications, financial statements, loss history, and other relevant information to make underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients to achieve profitable growth and retention objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional service and support throughout the underwriting process.
- Collaborate with other departments such as claims, legal, and compliance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Monitor market trends, emerging risks, and industry developments to identify opportunities for product enhancement and expansion.
- Participate in underwriting meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional liability underwriting, preferably in a wholesale or specialty insurance environment.
- Strong knowledge of professional liability insurance products, underwriting principles, and industry practices.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in underwriting software/systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or similar are a plus.
