- Work closely with business partners and customers, and actively identify new product development and innovation opportunities.
- Manage projects and cross-functional and cross-regional project teams to achieve deliverables/targets in a timely manner.
- Design new polymers with desired attributes to meet targeted requirement.
- Develop architectural coating formulation knowledge and enhance team knowledge in the field in an effort to help advance customer formulations.
- Define specifications of new product as well as application methods for production approval.
- Define and constantly review test methods and test formulations during product development. Responsible for ensuring product development is properly documented.
- Manage the lab team, and provide required training for chemists and technicians, as well as supervise visiting students and scientists on temporary assignments.
- Contribute and adhere to environment, health and safety standards and policies of the company, division and site.
- PhD with at least 3 - 5 years of R&D experience in emulsion polymerization
- Strong curiosity and passion in scientific work
- Previous work experience in R&D at a major paint company is preferred and international experience is a plus
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required, including strong presentation skills.
