The Director of Safety is primarily responsible for assisting Branch Managers, Regional Directors, and the Senior Team in developing, maintaining, and implementing Barnhart’s risk-based safety programs. The Director of Safety is a supportive role dedicated to providing guidance around operational risk management; management of injuries; assisting in investigations and interacting with customers as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help with operational risk management that is consistent with company Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Assist branches in managing injury cases.
  • Interface with medical providers.
  • Managing the companies IR and EMR.
  • Maintaining and timely reporting of all company safety metrics.
  • Oversee all aspects of safety systems, including:
  • SSH&E Manual with all associated programs.
  • Incident reporting and management systems.
  • Quality programs for both ISO 45001 and 14001.Lead investigative teams on incidents of significant personal injury, property damage, or near miss situations.
  • Assist branch management with customer issues when addressing safety and quality situations. This may require writing detail responses to customer questions or concerns, interfacing with key customers via phone or conference calls to address challenging situations or traveling to locations.
  • Ensure that all necessary third-party safety entities, like ISN, are current and adequately managed.

Education
  • Field (craft) experience with experience in safety management, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with appropriate experience.
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in related field and previous supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in cranes and rigging is desired.
Technical Aptitude
  • Must have a solid understanding of OSHA Regulations.
  • Should be mechanically inclined with basic understanding of machinery, heavy construction and principles of industrial project flow;
  • Basic math and geometry skills are necessary.
  • Basic understanding of construction contracts.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
ASP or CSP designation is strongly desired, but not required.
Computer Skills
Moderate to advanced MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint are required.Compensation and Benefits
