  • Production:
  • Understand the schedule and organize workflow and materials for each shift.
  • Use the ACCESS database to track production progress.
  • Learn, then train your team, on best practices for safe and efficient operation of the machines in the rough mill: Gang rip saw, 204 chop saw, 350 chop saw, Re-saw, straight-line rip saw, planer-sander, and glue clamp carrier.
  • Directly supervise machine operators to ensure production schedule is met efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, conduct regular inspections, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production records to track performance and facilitate analysis. Set goals and deadlines, and report on team performance and metrics.
  • Oversee waste recapture and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintenance:
  • Learn, then train your team, on the required preventive maintenance of rough mill machines. Ensure maintenance is completed and properly documented.
  • Report any breakdowns to Maintenance and assist in repairing if needed.
  • Safety:
  • Attend all safety committee meetings and safety training sessions.
  • Train employees on Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Enforce health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure safe machine operation and guarding.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and building walk-throughs; document findings and address concerns promptly.
  • Report injuries to the Safe Director and complete a First Report of Injury form (FROI).
  • Complete an accident investigation report; and work to prevent recurrence.
  • Leadership:
  • Facilitate clear and open communication between team members, management, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of activities and timely resolution of production issues.
  • Set clear team goals; recognize, coach, and support your team.
  • Lead employee evaluations and quarterly 5-5-5 conversations. Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments.
  • Participate in daily and weekly lead team and whole-group meetings.
  • Actively listen to team members and give constructive feedback.
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED. Post-secondary education is a plus but not required.
  • 2-5 years of management/leadership/supervisory experience.
  • 1-2 years of continuous improvement / lean manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or cabinet component industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated FIOF – ‘figure it out factor’; can independently solve problems, make decisions, and navigate challenges without explicit instructions or constant guidance.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and accountability.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, spell, and communicate professionally.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, board feet, lineal feet, and volume. Must have the ability to apply basic concepts of geometry and algebra, and have good number sense and estimation skills.
Note: We can teach machine operation, processes, procedures, species and lumber grades, quality control, and specifications, and how to read the schedule and CAD drawings. We are asking that candidates already have the soft skills, knowledge, and experience needed to manage people well, not just by overseeing tasks and operations but by fostering positive relationships, nurturing talent, and promoting a supportive work environment.Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk, squat, stoop, bend, and turn.
  • Must be able to lift/move/push up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Must be present each day for the entire shift 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. (No work from home.)
Working Conditions
  • Workplace noise is in the high range and requires use of hearing protection.
  • Workplace is a semi-climate-controlled environment – it will be warm in the summer and cooler in the winter.
  • Workplace requires the use of foot protection (steel-toed shoes) and safety glasses.
  • Workplace can generate wood dust, and if allergic to wood dust, this may not be the right job for you.
Compensation (dependent upon experience)
  • Starts at $35,000 - $40,000
