  • What you'll do
  • Figure Material Take-offs on drawings for cut lengths.
  • Use Pipe Cutting Machine, or if Machine is Busy, use Beveling Machine to Cut Pipe to Required Length
  • Communicate with the helper/rigger as to which piece of Material or Equipment is needed for Each Project Task.
  • Aligns parts, using jack, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and heavy hammer.
  • Marks reference points onto floor or face block and transposes them to workpiece using measuring devices, squares, chalk and soapstone.
  • Gives directions to welder to build up low spots or short pieces with weld.
  • Straightens warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press and push pull physically.
  • Removes high spots and cuts bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torch.
  • Examines blueprints and plans sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage, machining and metal thickness.
  • Assembles and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing soldering and threading joints.
  • Puts all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop pipe.
  • Inspects, examines and tests installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods.
  • Ascending/Descending stairwells with/without tools and equipment, frequently
  • Plans pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications.
  • Reads and understands blueprints and ISO’s.
  • Demo and install of handrails and grating on platform.
  • Verify All Measurements and check for square and level before release to welder.
  • Note Pre-weld dimensions on Fitter Drawings.
  • Hanging and swinging on vertical rope to/from platform to/from boat (potential rough seas/wind).
  • Ensure Tag is on All Fabricated Items with Correct Job Number, Customer Name, and Piece Number.
  • Climbing, working from heights.
  • Pulling tools and equipment up and down to workstations/areas.
  • Show up to Work “ON TIME” & “As Scheduled”
  • Inspect all equipment daily (torch, torch hoses, grinder, levels, tapes, etc.)
  • Sweep work area daily or as needed, to ensure safe work area for all
  • Complete and discuss a thorough JSEA prior to each task.
  • Always have a positive attitude towards customers being serviced as well as ACI as a company.
  • What you need to know
  • Preferably 2 years minimum experience fitting (Piping, Vessel and Structural) fabrication
  • Recent Offshore Construction experience (2 year minimum)
  • Most recent offshore experience within the last 4 years
  • Read/Interpret ISO’s and Blue Prints
  • Familiar with and ability to respond/escape emergencies on offshore facilities and water entry/survival
