We recognize the land and waters that have inspired our work and offer gratitude to those Indigenous peoples on whose territory we work, live and play.About the roleCanadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Student Donor Recruiter - St John's to join our dynamic Donor Relations & Collections East team.The Donor Relations & Collections East team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the efforts of donor recruitment at community events. You will attend local events to raise awareness regarding the importance of donating blood and blood products by registering individuals to receive further information regarding donation opportunities. You will work with Donor Relations staff to identify, plan, and execute community events, track results, determine best practices, and support overall recruitment efforts. We are committed to increasing our awareness and inclusion to more diverse groups. This role will include research into communities to find out about organization, affiliations, and connections.Formula for success
  • Leveraging your excellent communication skills, you will educate and inform the general public about the need for donors.
  • Utilizing your excellent interpersonal skills, you will work with volunteers who are also looking to support the growth and awareness about Canadian Blood Services.
  • Drawing on your knowledge in sales, you will develop and manage sales opportunities, as well as identify events/festivals and other opportunities to set up our booths.
  • At events, you will organize, set up and maintain the supplies for these booths.
  • With your ability to connect with people, you will inspire community members to sign up to receive additional information on donation opportunities using our contact platform.
  • Using your analytical skills, you will perform post-event assessments to determine future suitability in attending events and recommend improvements.

  • Ability to initiate conversation and speak comfortably regarding opportunities to get involved at Canadian Blood Services with a passion for our cause.
  • Strong communication, verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Preference will be given to those with an interest in Sales, Marketing or Public Outreach.
  • Experience with the use of social media.

What you can expect

  • Availability to work 37.50 hours a week for the full duration of this position.
  • Travel requirements to community events; mileage program provided.
  • Required: full driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Physical requirements - ability to lift weight up to 20 lbs.
  • Using your own technical devices including laptop and cell phone.
