As a Senior Product Manager leading Uber Grocery's Shopper Payments, you'll play a key role in creating a flawless fulfillment experience that gets customers anything they order from local merchants. Uber to date has successfully helped customers get restaurant food delivered to their doors, and we are excited to bring that delight and convenience to virtually everything else. Today, we're focused on the grocery, convenience, alcohol and pharmacy sectors, with the potential to expand into other long-tail verticals in the future. Shopper payments is a critical way our Grocery business differs from food delivery, and payment enablement is one of the key requirements for Uber's expansion to more markets and more merchants, so your roadmap will be a main driver of business growth. In this role, you will be working with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders across operations, data science, design, engineering, marketing and more, to deliver a reliable and delightful experience to shoppers paying for groceries in-store before delivering to customers. What you'll doThe opportunities to evolve the checkout & overall payments experience are myriad and we are only just getting started. You will be responsible for influencing the product roadmaps of many other teams that manage billing & payments, remedying customer service issues with deliveries and much more. This is a representative sampling of the areas you might be tackling together with the team you're leading:
  • Innovate on the core checkout experience to make it even more seamless, especially in cases of complex trips
  • Understand the needs of our users, potential users as well as various lines of business to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for your product area
  • Expand Uber Grocery globally by unlocking key enterprise merchants, partnering with PSP vendors and by shipping bespoke integrations
  • Combat fraud, while also allowing for flexibility at checkout, to account for order differences during shopping
  • Improve order reliability for consumers by ensuring checkout is accurate and timely
What you'll need
  • Minimum 7 years experience delivering successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them
  • Technical savviness. Can manifest in different ways: a computer science undergraduate degree, hands-on software engineering experience, or experiences building complex software products side by side with engineers. Technical understanding must go from the highest abstractions down to the metal
  • Attention to detail. The ability to obsess over every single part of the checkout process
  • Customer obsession. The ability to take on complex product challenges and find elegant, simplifying solutions to avoid making them our users and partner's problems
  • Finger-tippiness with data. You find a way to get the data you need and whip it into an insightful story with no help. You know how to leverage this data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
  • A “Driver” mindset. You are biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master disambiguator/simplifier, and constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on
  • A high bar across the board - from your own contributions to the people you work with, to the products you work on
  • A true passion for Uber's mission, our products, and the company's hybrid technology/operations nature
  • A never-ending desire to grow and learn
Bonus Points For
  • Experience building products from 0 to 1
  • Experience in the grocery, retail, CPG or ecommerce industry
  • Knowledge of the payments domain is a plus
