- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including but not limited to highways, bridges, dams, and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand project scope, objectives, and requirements.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information and identify potential project challenges or opportunities.
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to generate detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
- Participate in bid review meetings and negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements that may impact project costs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of cost estimating best practices and procedures.
- Support project teams during pre-construction and post-bid phases as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred, but not required).
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, B2W Estimate).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) a plus.
