- Research laws and regulations that govern employers sponsoring employee benefit plans and advise on same for internal team members.
- Review health and welfare plan-related documents, such as SPDs, BAAs, NDAs, and vendor contracts.
- Review and negotiate commercial contracts and maintain template forms.
- Research and respond to employee inquiries on compliance issues for clients and, where appropriate, participate in client communications regarding those inquiries.
- Assist with RFP responses and review of marketing materials.
- Create white papers and compliance content for use by internal team and clients; ensure content regularly updated as needed.
- May attend and present at sales presentations regarding benefits compliance program.
- Assist with coordination of compliance reviews for self-insured plans.
- May conduct HIPAA training and assist with HIPAA compliance, including obtaining Business Associate Agreements and reviewing vendor privacy and security policies and audits.
- Ensure regulatory compliance; investigate and respond to regulatory inquiries on behalf of the agency.
- Coordinate litigation and responses to discovery, as needed.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
- 3-7 years of related experience preferably in a similar position
- An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
- Arkansas bar admission preferred (but equivalent state bar admission considered)
