- onsemi is seeking a self-driven, hands-on, engineer / scientist to join their Product Analysis Lab, located in Phoenix, AZ. As a Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) Manager, you will have the opportunity to direct a talented team of technicians, engineers and scientists to utilize leading edge tools and techniques to prepare and image physical defects causing electrical failure in a wide variety of onsemi products with focus on image sensors and power modules. The Product Analysis Lab in Phoenix is focused on providing best-in-class analytical support for the Company, not only in completing high quality Failure Analysis (FA) work but also in driving technological advancements and efficiency gains in the FA process through method development and innovation. This position requires an innovative approach to problem solving through sample preparation and use of various analytical tools. Mentoring and method development is a key component of this position.
- Direct physical failure analysis efforts of onsemi integrated circuits - internal qualifications/evaluations failures, design debug and key external customer returns. - Manage physical failure analysis workloads and resources including personnel and equipment
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, documentation of best known methods and process development to meet new analytical challenges
- Manage all physical failure analysis instrumentation including SEM, TEM, FIB, EDS/EDX, SAT/CSAM, AFM, FTIR, DSC, TGA, TMA, ultra-fast laser, and full metallurgical sample preparation equipment
- Take part in problem solving teams to assist in resolving complex technical issues
- Maintain excellence in safety, health, and environmental practices
- Manage multiple complex priorities with demanding time frames
- MS or PhD engineering/technical + 10 yrs experience in failure analysis or analytical laboratory
- 5 yrs experience in management of people
- A strong interdisciplinary interest in physics, chemistry, and multiple engineering disciplines will be used, electrical background is highly beneficial in understanding the limitations and capabilities of instrumentation
- A strong background in semiconductor fabrication and assembly across a wide variety of technologies and device types
