Under general supervision, will provide clinical mental health services to consumers and families within a community mental health program, located in a public-school setting. This is a school-based position available in the Orangeburg School District.Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center / OAMHC is an approved site of the National
Health Service Corps, (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000 to
employees of NHSC-approved sites. You must be a US citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired, and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two-year service commitment required as well. Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center is part of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center/OAMHC provides mental health services to individuals in Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg and Holly Hill Counties.1. Provides an array of community mental health services in a school setting in a culturally competent manner. Clinical services to be performed as privileged, will include but not be limited to, assessment, crisis management, individual, group and family therapy and other services that are needed and appropriate for students and their families.2. Participates in treatment team meetings/staff and administrative meetings as designated, Adheres to Corporate Compliance, Fire and Safety, CARF and HIPPA standards.3. Provides consultation and training to teachers and community. Participcates with school personnel in parent-teacher conferences and other designated school meetings to offer appropriate consultation, referrals and mental heath services as needed.4. Develops, arranges, and facilitiates services for the assigned caseload during periods when school is not in session, encuring that services do not lapse.5. Active participation in data collection and assimilation for reporting outcomes as required for school-based mental health projects.6. Maintains medical records and clinical documentations to meet Q & A and CARF standards.7. Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the supervisor.STATE: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the other social sciences or a related field.
InternalDMH: A master's degree in counseling, social work or psychology or other related areas with less than 1 year experience in a clinical fieldKnowledge of normal and abnormal behavior adjustment techniques. Knowledge of clinical
practices and interviewing techniques. Knowledge of legal principals and practices. Knowledge of investigative techniques, principles and practices. Knowledge of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling services. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws or regulations pertaining to a social service program. Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established objectives.
