This role plays a critical role in maintaining, servicing and optimizing molds used in the production of plastic parts, ensuring they meet quality and production requirements. The Tool room Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, quality, and performance of molds crucial to the production of plastic parts. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a dedication to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the injection molding process.ResponsibilitiesBuild, lead, mentor, and manage a team of skilled toolmakers, machinists, and techniciansFoster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the toolroomSchedule and prioritize mold maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks to meet production demandsOversee the setup and operation of a variety of precision machining equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and grindersMonitor and maintain the quality of work performed in the toolroom, ensuring molds conform to design specifications and quality standardsMaintain an organized inventory of toolroom materials, spare parts, and tooling componentsEfficiently manage and order necessary supplies and materials to support toolroom activitiesKeep accurate records of mold maintenance, repair, and modification activitiesGenerate reports detailing toolroom performance, including efficiency, downtime, and tool lifespanIdentify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction within the toolroomCollaborate with engineering and production teams to implement design changes that enhance mold performance and longevityPlan and coordinate training programs for toolroom staff to enhance their skills and keep them updated on industry best practicesEncourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development among team membersEnsure strict compliance with quality control procedures and standards across all toolroom activitiesInvestigate and resolve any quality-related issues that may arise during the injection molding processAssist in the development and management of the toolroom budget, including labor and material costsOther duties as assignedRequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate in tool and die making preferredAt least 5 years of experience in mold making and toolroom operations, with a focus on injection moldingStrong leadership and supervisory skillsProficiency in operating and troubleshooting various machining equipment and toolsKnowledge of CAD/CAM software, Solid Edge and CNC programmingExceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detailStrong organizational and time-management skillsFamiliarity with safety regulations and best practices in an injection molding environmentEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to lift up to 40 lbs.What CRH Offers You
