The minimum responsibilities for this position are listed and are not completely inclusive of all that are required for success:
- Manage automation staff, budget, and projects to meet the department and company goals.
- Develop a budget and manage capital projects for the delivery of new and revised automation systems.
- Direct and prioritize workload with resources within the department and with other internal and external resources.
- Develop new automation solutions to meet production improvement goals.
- Maintain records for the automation solutions including designs, POs, PMs, and software programs for controls.
- Develop cost-effective methods for automating new and existing production processes.
- Ensure documentation for the operation and preventive maintenance developed for all new automation equipment.
- Manage goals to provide a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a team of engineers creating new automation equipment.
- Ability to design and build complex machines to automate manual processes.
- Knowledge and proficiency in machine control technology including PLC programming.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the design, build, and debug of complex electrical systems.
- High mechanical aptitude and ability to create and interpret detailed complex mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of relevant computer applications related to mechanical/electrical design and control systems.
- Mechanical understanding of manufacturing process equipment
- Knowledge and proficiency with machine and equipment standards and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum educational and related work experience requirements:
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with an MS preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing; metal stamping, assembly, and laser welding experience preferred.
- 5 years experience managing an engineering team working on equipment development.
This position requires the person:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in an area with loud noise and vibration.
- Must wear proper PPE (protective shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) and follow LOTO procedures.
