- Provides patient care in a safe and timely manner. Works with the assigned RN/supervisor to receive assignments and resolve issues. Does not attempt to do procedures for which he/she is not qualified.
- Develops and implements patient specific care plans and education as required by unit.
- Addresses age-specific needs of individual patients.
- Maintains multi-disciplinary communication to provide high-quality patient care.
- Develops plan with unit manager to complete all competency requirements. Ensures own professional effectiveness through continued education and professional development.
- Documents patient care, interventions and responses/actions in the patient care plan with accuracy, timeliness and legibility to ensure continuity of care.
- Assists in the transporting of patients, specimens, supplies and equipment and in the maintenance and stocking of supplies and equipment to assure optimal functioning of the department.
- Department safety and maintenance is ensured in a manner consistent with the hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accredited School of Nursing Required: through State Board of Nursing approved nursing program
- Required : Basic Life Support and
- Required : Licensed Practical Nurse - Alaska Temporary; in Alaska or
- Required : Registered Nurse Temporary; in Alaska
- Must have the ability to work efficiently and responsibly in an environment with multiple work demands and short time frames. (Required)
- Commensurate with educational preparation demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs for nursing care. (Required)
- Computer knowledgeable. (Required)
- Alaska: Temporary permit will be invalid once results of the board examination are issued to the licensing board.
- Unsuccessful completion of the board examination invalidates all position criteria including position and wage. If this occurs, the applicant may choose to apply for other positions qualified for.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
- Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
- Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
- Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
- Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
