DefinitionThe City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities provides Water, Water Reclamation and Electric services. We are in the process of implementing Trimble's Cityworks Respond and Storeroom software, which will provide a GIS-centric asset lifecycle management solution to our divisions. The solution will optimize operational support of critical infrastructure and empower our utility to make data driven decisions related to Asset Management and Planning.
This role will be responsible for managing the planning, direction, coordination efforts and governance of data and processes associated with Cityworks across all divisions in the department of Public Utilities.
Key duties include:
  • Supervises and trains Data Management Coordinators who are assigned to DPU Divisions to support on-going management of data and processes related to Cityworks
  • Responsible for standardizing business processes and system administration of Cityworks across DPU Divisions
  • Responsible for creating, documenting and enforcing data and process standards for Cityworks across DPU Divisions
  • Responsible for documenting workflow, roles and responsibilities (RACI), governance policies and processes across the organization related to Cityworks
  • Communicates and Coordinates with key stakeholders across DPU Divisions to ensure the Cityworks system is optimized, updated and delivering value to our department
Under general direction, is responsible for managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of information processing and reporting systems; performs related duties as required.Examples of Work(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)Develops, implements, and provides technical support for information processing systems;Confers with the Department of Technology personnel or outside consultants for the development and implementation of information support services;Develops and implements proposals for solving administrative problems in the processing of information within the system;Evaluates information systems operations for compliance with the budget and necessary repairs, scheduling periodic maintenance as appropriate;Evaluates the utility and cost effectiveness of existing information processing systems, recommending and initiating required changes to systems as appropriate;Supervises or trains personnel engaged in the department's information processing activities;Confers with management and supervisory personnel in the development and implementation of information support services, processes, and procedures; ensures that proposed systems will adhere to minimum guidelines and standards that are developed by the Department of Technology;Coordinates work flow between the division or department and the Department of Technology;Prepares information systems budget and recommendations for system improvement;Attends professional information systems seminars, staff meetings, and policy planning sessions.Minimum QualificationsPossession of a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in the development, analysis, and implementation of management information systems.
