DESCRIPTIONAmazon is searching for a highly-organized, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve on its Law Enforcement Response (LER) team that can contribute to this critical function as the company continues to grow and scale around the world. The LER team consists of a dedicated group of specialists who are responsible for responding to law enforcement requests (e.g., subpoenas, search warrants) received from government agencies globally. The successful candidate will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a global team with a primary focus on US and Canadian requests. This role requires specialists to be in office a minimum of three days a week.Each LER specialist's principal area of responsibility is to make sure that requests are processed accurately, professionally and expeditiously, all while ensuring the privacy and security of business and customer information in accordance with the law and with Amazon's various policies and procedures. This requires high judgment and experience dealing with challenging and ambiguous situations. Because the LER team is global in scope, LER specialists must be able to interface effectively with Amazon employees and law enforcement personnel located in other countries.Key job responsibilities
- Evaluate and respond to law enforcement requests in a manner consistent with the privacy and security of business and customer information, in accordance with the law and with Amazon's various policies and procedures.
- Receive and process emergency law enforcement requests both during and outside of normal business hours, and sometimes overnight.
- Improving operational efficiencies by contributing to policies and procedures, and by providing feedback to engineering teams responsible for LER-specific tools.
- Utilize a combination of manual and automated tools to compile information potentially responsive to a particular law enforcement request.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with law enforcement personnel, Amazon employees, outside counsel, and others.
- Assist in the identification of patterns and trends that might be evident from the processing of certain law enforcement requests.
- This role may involve exposure to potentially graphic and / or objectionable content including but not limited to graphic images, videos, audio and words, offensive or derogatory language.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Arlington, VA, USA | Seattle, WA, USABASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree and / or 3+ years of experience handling law enforcement, privacy, security, incident response, and / or other investigatory requests in the government, telecommunications, or the technology industry as an investigator, responder, and / or paralegal.
- Experience using MS Office Professional Suite in a professional work environment, including Excel.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience certifying business records in front of a grand jury and / or providing witness testimony.
- Strong common sense.
- Excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
- Written and verbal fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to work and to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with high-volume workflows.

The base pay for this position ranges from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $102,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
