We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Midwife-Woodhull.Under general direction of the Director of the Midwifery Service, the midwife assumes responsibility and provides health care services in accordance with the standards of Midwifery Practices as defined by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and Midwives. This care includes (1) the management of care of the essentially healthy woman and newborn throughout the childbearing process and (2) the management of the gynecologic and inter-conception needs of the essentially healthy woman.Job Responsibilities:
  • Participates in assigned prenatal, family planning and postpartum care as a healthcare provider, accepting responsibility for medical evaluation and management according to departmental guidelines and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manage normal postpartum care including breastfeeding and patient discharge.
  • Manage labor and perform delivery of the infant including resuscitation and physical exam of the newborn.
  • Consult and/or collaborate with the physician covering the labor unit as needed.
  • Establish a plan of care in keeping with patients individual needs as well as guidelines and polices.
  • Admit patients to labor and delivery including history, physicals and appropriate labs.
  • Provide prenatal assessment and screening on the labor and delivery unit.
  • Knowledge of NST and BPP.
  • Provide prenatal assessment as per credentialing including limited third trimester sonograms.
  • Prescribe medication through prescriptive privileges legislation.
  • Provide relevant health supervision and education.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure comprehensive patient services.
  • Utilize consultation/collaboration and referral appropriately when needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • ACNM certification.
  • NYS Midwifery license.
  • Masters in Midwifery.
Preferred Qualifications:
