Job Description:We are looking for a Chemical Engineering Intern to work with a seasoned mentor to spearhead a reduction in process safety action items across our refinery network. The successful candidate will review hazard assessment reports, evaluate options for remediation, and design process solutions.Wage: $25hrTime Frame: The project time frame is slightly flexible and could turn into a CO-OPLocations: Housing is not provided. Living in a commutable distance from East Chicago, IN or Deer Park, TX is preferredResponsibilities:
Review process hazard assessments and assist in the prioritization of engineering projects.
Provide technical recommendations for the remediation of potential process safety hazards.
Update SOPs and administrative control systems to close audit recommendations.
Coordinate with internal technical groups to identify and implement best practices
Support continuous improvement program through existing processes.
Qualifications:What does it take to work at Clean Harbors?
Current enrollment in an accredited Chemical Engineering Degree program preferred.
0-3 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Must be able to quickly grasp an understanding of all equipment used at the site, including process instrumentation, piping, valves, pumps, material of construction,
Process Safety Management (PSM) and/or Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) experience preferred.
Proficient in MS Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization written and verbally
Lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for long periods and exposed to various weather conditions
