- Serve on the Senior Leadership Team as an essential voice
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Senior HR Manager to ensure the HR department is a strong business partner to the entire organization
- Prepare HR and EDI updates for quarterly presentation to the Board of Directors
- Lead the organization’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council.
- Strengthen buildOn’s workplace policies with the revision of the Employee Handbook.
- Directly supervise the Senior HR Manager and work collaboratively to ensure all HR processes are effective and efficient. (Benefits, Total Compensation, Payroll, Employee Relations, Employee Recognition, and other related HR functions.)
- Work closely with department leaders to strengthen processes around recruitment and hiring
- Provide leadership across all departments to ensure we are meeting Time-to-Fill KPI goal
- Lead the use of the applicant tracking system across the organization
- Conduct first-round interviews to provide a strong talent pipeline to hiring managers
- Attract top talent by continuously monitoring and responding to Glassdoor and similar employer review sites.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure buildOn is a “best place to work.”
- Continue strengthening the onboarding process with dynamic resources and solid processes for strong department-specific onboarding.
- Lead and oversee performance management practices across the organization.
- Ensure managers have the tools and training for continuous coaching around goals and areas for development
- Partner with department leaders to build our learning paths to ensure all staff have the functional skills to succeed in their roles (Job Skills Training)
- Systems, Operations, and Compliance: Managing HRIS, which includes payroll, taxes, compliance, and benefits administration
- Employee Relations: Providing day-to-day Human Resources support to employees’ questions and requests as specifically as they related to benefits and payroll and holding weekly HR office hours.

- Knowledge of the systems issues that inhibit the growth of communities.
- Experience serving on a senior leadership team in a mission-centered and results-driven nonprofit program.
- Exceptional communicator.
- History of inspiring teams to achieve results and experience presenting to regional boards, major donors, and other external stakeholders.
- Extensive experience driving transformational equity, diversity, and inclusion in organizations.
- A minimum of 5 years leading the full talent spectrum, performance management, benefits and payroll
- Highly skilled in building trusting, collaborative relationships. Excel in interpersonal communications, inclusive leadership, and managing difficult conversations.
- Strong understanding of applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Superior project management, priority setting, verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various data analytics reports.
- Experience in strategic planning and/or operating plan creation
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
