Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.RequirementsLab Manager - Department of Psychology - Georgetown University College of Arts & SciencesThe research conducted by the examines interpersonal emotional phenomena in connection with healthy aging across the lifespan. Current directions of the lab include: 1) understanding how we share, understand, and influence others’ emotions in ways that affect their depressive symptoms and health, 2) how social and emotional processes go awry in neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders and contribute to depressive symptoms and health problems, and 3) interventions to influence social and emotional functioning to reduce depressive symptoms and health problems.Job OverviewThe Lab Manager is primarily responsible for coordinating an R00 from the National Institute on Aging focused on Interpersonal Emotion Regulation in dyads where one individual has dementia; and for ensuing that various lab tasks run smoothly.As well, they assist with the development of lab infrastructure (e.g., setting up computers, developing internal data storage systems and lab manuals), support the lab community (e.g., facilitating lab communication and organizing lab events), and hire and manage a team of undergraduate research assistants.Work Interactions and Work Mode DesignationReporting to the Dr. Casey Brown, Assistant Professor/PI of the Lab, the Lab Manager supervises the volunteer/student research assistants.As well, they interact with the PI’s collaborators at other institutions, graduate and undergraduate students in the lab, research participants from the Georgetown University community and the greater DC area, Psychology Department staff and faculty, and conference attendees - both in person and virtually.This position has been designated as On-Campus.   • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field
  • 1 to 2 years research experience in a psychology lab setting
  • High detail orientation
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and to manage and support a team
