- Performs more complex assignments and may lead a team of estimators engaged in the following:
- Prepares pre-design cost estimates based on scope and project type
- Prepares construction cost estimates from drawings, outlines, and specifications on a variety of project types, reviews contractor and consultant cost proposals, negotiates change orders
- Develop detailed cost estimates from the engineering drawings; proactively identify deficiencies and/or questions; and actively assist the project team toward the answers
- Prepare and review material take-offs from planning documents or engineering drawings
- Prepare detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems
- Prepare and/or review final Engineer's estimate
- Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes
- 3-10 years or more of estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Certifications required, may include PMP, PE, and/or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certification. Required to have certified estimating professional credentials
- Experience managing a team of cost estimators
- Proficient with large-scale estimating software
- Proficient with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources, e.g. RS Means, Richardsons, etc.
- Self-starter attitude with proved results-oriented focus
- Demonstrates a proactive, firm and respectful approach to estimate reconciliation efforts and change order processing
- Establish a personable, but contractual stance with the contractor
- Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations
