Your Opportunity:The Recreation Therapist II, Clinical Lead position is responsible for the clinical leadership at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (Rehabilitation unit) and community, Oyen Health Centre (LTC and Acute Care), community, Brooks Health Centre (LTC, Acute Care, Sub-Acute, community Transition Beds), community, Bassano Health Centre (LTC), community and the Bow Island Health Centre (LTC, Acute Care) and community.Description:As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist. Additional Required Qualifications:5 years or more of experience in a Recreation Therapist position covering a variety of care both facility (Acute Care & LTC) and community. 5 years or more demonstrated knowledge and competency with therapeutic recreation professional standards of practice, best available evidence/research, assessments, client-centered treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and documentation. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support. Fitness Alberta Certification (Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older Adult). Dementia Care training and/or certification (Dementia Practice Guidelines for Recreational Therapy). Aquatic Therapy experience and/or certification. Expressive Arts & Music Care certification/training. Valid Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle to provide therapy to clients in their home. Demonstration of current continuing education. Demonstration of effective leadership and mentoring. Physically capable of pushing a wheelchair for an extended period and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous, reliable and demonstrates regular attendance. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold these qualifications. Preferred Qualifications:It's Your Move.
