Job Description:seeks a dedicated Construction Industry Interns to participate in a project or office-based internship in Pasadena, CA apart of our SoCal Region, and establish a long-term rapport with Operational Leadership at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.DescriptionKitchell CEM is the Owner's Representative Division of the Kitchell Family of Companies. Our PM/CM Interns assist the Project Manager and Site Team with daily duties and resolving issues that occur with each project. Duties will include exposure to projects specifications, project drawings, and the handling of proprietary documentation. You will be a resource helping the team manage the project's schedule, budget, and scope with possible interaction with the Owner, the General Contractor, and the Design firm.Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the review and process all submittals, RFI's, ensuring compliance with contract documents and in accordance with project needs.
  • Support cost documentation and reviewing change orders for pricing and status.
  • Assist with maintaining project document files and logs.
  • Assist in the monitoring, updating, and presentation of project schedules.
  • Assist with maintaining a complete and current set of drawings reflecting all changes from the base contract documents, including: change order requests, addenda, field orders, clarifications, correspondence, and field conditions.
  • Assist with accumulating costs and preparing monthly progress payment request to the owner.
  • Monitor and review project progress with the Project Manager and Team.
  • Implement job close-out procedure as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining the job progress photo file.
  • Help to keep the Project Manager and Team aware of special provisions within contracts.
  • Assist with the coordination and compliance of Safety and Quality functions throughout the project.
  • Acquire a thorough knowledge of the contract documents, plans, specifications, and owner's contract; participate in meetings to support team effort in fulfilling these requirements.
  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture or relevant experience is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of A/E/C industry software to prepare documents is preferred.
  • Understanding of general construction and design is preferred.
  • Exposure to industry PM/CM techniques of scheduling and budgeting is preferred.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently inspects the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, while wearing personal protective equipment. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions due to work activities occurring both inside and outside.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the position is moderately active and the employee is frequently standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The position also may also be sitting for long periods of time.Travel RequirementsThese positions are project site based in a Construction Trailer. Some positions are office based. The Company's ranges are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data.
