- Perform calibration, verification, and validation of laboratory instruments and equipment according to established procedures and standards.
- Maintain calibration schedules and records for all laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Reviews and approves the calibration work of teammates and vendors.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with measurement equipment, performing necessary repairs or coordinating with external vendors for servicing.
- Develop and implement procedures for the proper handling, storage, and usage of measurement standards and reference materials.
- Participate in the selection and procurement of new metrology equipment, evaluating technical specifications and suitability for laboratory applications.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including day to day use, adding and removing assets from the system, work order lifecycle oversight and troubleshooting.
- Provides manager and related groups with visibility into upcoming and pending work, metrics and workload/workforce assessments.
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited Institution in Physics, Metrology, Engineering or appropriate technical discipline or comparable advanced metrology/calibration training/certifications.
- Strong knowledge of measurement principles, statistical analysis, and calibration techniques.
- A strong understanding of the common instruments and measuring devices used in a research organization, including balances, mechanical/digital pipettes, multimeters, digital thermometers and optical instruments.
- Excellent attention to detail skills and the ability to accurately and reliably work with large sets of numerical data.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to learn new tasks and new systems.
- Strong desire and commitment to provide excellent support to scientific and lab operations personnel and other internal team members.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ability to understand and consistently follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP or Blue Mountain.
- Familiarity with metrology standards and regulations such as ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and ANSI/NCSL Z540.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), especially with respect to laboratory equipment maintenance documentation requirements.
