Premyom, whose €41 million budget is co-financed by the France 2030 national plan, is recruiting talent from all these fields to enrich the community of 60 women and men committed together on a daily basis to preventing the myopia epidemic.*Prise en charge et Ralentissement de l’Epidémie de MYopie par l’Optique MédicaleThe Optical Instrumentation Research Engineer will join the Scientific Department, under the responsibility of the Head of Instrumentation Studies. They will join a team responsible for delivering innovations in optical instrumentation for eye care professionals.The role includes optical developments, design, and simulations as part of novel instrumentation projects at the forefront of clinical research, with an awareness of all relevant instrumentation aspects (including image and data processing algorithms), with future growth opportunities in clinical innovation.The candidate will be actively involved in verifying critical functions and reporting results in accordance with scientific and technical good practice with clinical trials in mind.Here are some of the technical skills that we look for:
  • Demonstrated expert proficiency in Computer-aided optical simulation and design.
  • Multi-year experience in instrument design for biological and/or medical imaging.
  • Strong experience in research instrumentation in the private (R&D) or public sector, preferably in biological and/or medical imaging.
  • Solid experience with lasers sources and other optoelectronic instrumentation.
  • Working scientific programming skills with modern structured languages (Python, C++, Rust, Go...).
  • At least 2 years of experience in international settings (education and/or work).
  • Strong appetite for novel optical technology at the forefront of research.
  • Experience with regulatory framework of medical devices.
  • Ability to delegate and control the execution of technical tasks.
  • Curious, Eager to learn and grow.
  • Interested in making a difference to the health of people.
  • Working proficiency in digital electronics and analog circuits.
  • Notions in mechanical design and CAD software (Solidworks, Fusion360, Inventor...).
Your educational background:
  • Major in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of research (or similar R&D work experience) in Optical Engineering / Optical Instrumentation.
  • PhD strongly preferred.
